House sales hit six-year high Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors finds that the volume of homes sold per chartered surveyor reaches highest level since March 2008. 15 Jan 2014: The average UK house price increased by 5.4% to £248,000 in the 12 months to November, with strong growth recorded across all countries. Rises were again largely driven by London, which saw prices surge by 11.6% in the 12 months to November – more than double the UK average increase to £441,000. The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics) said prices would rise across the UK, with London set for another 11% jump on top of the double-digit increases recorded over the past year. It said the cost of renting a home was set to rise by 2%. Since the Halifax began tracking historical UK house prices in 1983:
- House prices have risen nationally by over 400%.
- London house prices are up by over 550%.
